The number of people suffering from any visual impairment is growing every year. Statistics show that approximately ninety percent of all inhabitants of the planet suffer from some type of visual impairment. The reasons for the development of visual disorders are numerous – this is work at a computer, which a huge number of modern people are engaged in, and non-observance of basic rules of vision hygiene. After all, the eyes are the same part of our body as other organs, and they also need proper care and attention.
If not so long ago glasses were used to improve vision, now more and more preference is given to corrective lenses, which, despite their shortcomings, are much more comfortable and safer than traditional glasses. The choice of corrective lenses is very important, as lenses can both help improve vision and adversely affect visual function if they are incorrectly fitted.
How to determine the type of corrective lenses
In fact, corrective lenses are the same glasses, only made not of glass, but of polymeric materials that allow moisture to pass through. The last property of corrective lenses prevents them from drying out, due to which sufficient moisture is achieved in the cornea of the eye. Corrective lenses are not equipped with frames, as they are fixed on the surface of the eyeball. The back of the corrective lenses exactly repeats the shape of the eyeball, therefore the selection of contact lenses is carried out in an individual form. The structure of the lens makes it possible for it to adhere to the eye shell as tightly as possible. The external side is obliged to ensure the correct focus of light rays penetrating the human organ of vision.
Among all modern lenses, most often a person chooses soft corrective lenses. Rigid corrective lenses are prescribed for severe vision pathologies and are much less popular.
Soft corrective lenses are subdivided into regular and planned replacement lenses. The first type of lenses is used for a month, then there is a need for special cleaning. And lenses that are replaced on a planned basis do not need special care. After a certain time, they are thrown away, acquiring new ones.
There are also such types of corrective lenses as cosmetic. These lenses also help to establish normal vision, but, in addition, they can change the color of the eyes, their shade and even the shape of the pupil, for example, to make it a feline.
How to choose corrective lenses
Corrective lens fitting begins with a visit to a professional ophthalmologist. Many eye optics salons provide an examination service with an ophthalmologist in their salon, that is, a specialist will determine the type of visual impairment on site and select lenses. But some dishonest companies can deliberately force to buy, for example, the most expensive lenses, although this was not necessary. Therefore, it is better to visit a trusted specialist in advance who will advise the best way to correct vision.
After choosing corrective lenses, depending on your vision, you should find out how best to wear the lenses. That is, you can choose lenses that will be removed at night and treated with a special tool, or they will be lenses of planned replacement, which, although they have a high cost, require less whimsical care. At the same time, you can wear the latter without taking off at all for several months.
The selection of corrective lenses, as already mentioned, is carried out strictly on an individual basis. The selection takes into account – diopter indices, while for each eye they can be different, the strength of the curvature of the cornea and the diameter of the contact lens. The packaging must certainly indicate several parameters – the diameter of the lenses, the nature of the distortion and the curvature of the cornea.
