Scientists have discovered glaucoma by eye movement

Scientists from London City University managed to identify the development of glaucoma in several people who just watched TV. According to experts, such a discovery is very important in the field of treatment of eye diseases, since, as you know, glaucoma in most cases of development ends in loss of vision.

The study, which was conducted by scientists, involved 44 patients suffering from glaucoma, and 32 healthy volunteers. During the experiment, specialists monitored the participants’ state of health, and also examined the severity of the degree of disease development. Next, the subjects were shown an excerpt from the television show and film. After observing and analyzing how volunteers monitor the screen and translate vision from one point to another, specialists identified the primary stages of glaucoma in several patients included in the group of healthy volunteers. That is, people did not even know that they have this disease.

Doctors note that with early diagnosis of glaucoma it can be cured without the development of aggravating consequences, and even if glaucoma began to develop, then this process, unfortunately, becomes irreversible. Using a new technique, doctors hope to create a diagnosis that will allow diagnosing glaucoma in the early stages of its development.
