List of vitamins for the eyes: how to save eyesight at any age

Vitamins for the eyes are especially necessary for modern man. After all, there are so many different factors that negatively affect the health of the eyes: constant work at the computer, reading e-books and reading in poor light, constant eyestrain when driving, the negative effect of intense sunlight on the retina. These factors lead to the rapid depletion of the organ of vision and the aging of all its parts.

You can use special nutritional supplements or simply eat right to maintain a complete vision or to stop the progression of eye diseases.

Indications for the use of vitamins for vision

There are categories of people who must use eye vitamins. Vitamins are necessary for people with any visual impairment (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and others), diabetes mellitus, patients with atherosclerosis and arterial hypertension. Vitamins help to slow the progression of eye disease, increase the flow of nutrients to the tissues and strengthen the vascular wall.

In addition, people over the age of 40 should take vitamins as a mandatory dietary supplement, even without an eye pathology, and those who spend most of their working time at the computer.

Vitamins useful for sight

The list of vitamins for the eyes is extensive, but there are those without which it is impossible to maintain a complete vision.

  1. Lutein is considered the most effective drug for preserving vision. It inhibits the aging of the retina, provides the eye with the full functioning for many years. This substance is not synthesized by the cells of the body, lutein enters the body with green vegetables (broccoli, different varieties of lettuce). An adult needs to take 5 mg of lutein per day.
  2. Zinc is required for glucose to enter the lens – a nutrient for cells. Without glucose, the lens substance ceases to be updated, which threatens the rapid development of cataracts.
  3. Vitamin A helps the human eye to see well in the dark. Its deficiency leads to such a state as “night blindness” – the impossibility of adapting eyesight at dusk and at night. A large amount of vitamin A is found in the yolk of eggs, butter, pork or beef liver, carrots, spinach and pumpkin.
  4. Vitamin C strengthens the vascular wall of the capillaries of the eye, slows down the aging of all its structures. This substance is found in cabbage, dogrose, sea buckthorn, citrus and other acidic vegetables and fruits.

The lack of these and other elements for eye health can be replenished with the help of multivitamin complexes. When buying them, you need to be guided by the advice of a doctor and the compliance of these drugs with the global GMP quality standard.
