In the course of large-scale research, scientists have found that you can avoid vision loss with the help of nitrates in vegetables.

Experts from the Westmead Institute of Medical Research reported that nitrates in vegetables have a beneficial effect on the visual organs and even help to avoid vision loss in old age.

Most often in old age the cause of vision loss is macular dystrophy – destruction of the yellow spot. With this pathology, the vessels feeding the cells of the retina begin to die off, and the person gradually becomes blind. Scientists have made such conclusions, based on the results of the study, which lasted 15 years, more than 2,000 people over 49 years old took part in it. Those subjects who ate between 100 and 142 milligrams of vegetable nitrates were less likely to develop macular dystrophy. With accurate dosage, the risk of disease was reduced by 35%. Among the most useful products are green lettuce and beets.

Gymnastics for the eyes

The first exercise: put hot palms on the eyes. Second: blink quickly for 30 seconds. Third: make the “mill” with your hands, leaning forward. The eyes must be open. You get the feeling that everything is floating around. Fourth, look briefly at bright daylight sunlight. Fifth: raise and lower your eyebrows until you feel the tension in your eyelids. Sixth: focus your gaze on something dim, alternately zooming in and out.

Palming

In order to relax the eye muscle at the end of the day, it is necessary to lie down comfortably and relax. Close your eyes with your palms so that light does not penetrate through them, but do not push. Exercise can be performed several times a day for five minutes.

Sun therapy

When looking at the sunlight, the retina functions at its maximum. For her workout, you need to gradually reduce photophobia, so as not to squint and not experience discomfort in bright sunlight. To do this, close your eyes and turn to the sun for a few seconds, trying to relax as much as possible. At the end of the exercise, cover your eyes with your palms until the glare disappears.

Oxygen enrichment

Closing your eyes with your palms, you need to squeeze and relax them for 30 seconds. After doing the first part of the exercise, without changing the position of the head, shake it in different directions. To close, intensively rub your eyes with your fists. This technique allows you to significantly relax the eye muscles, improve blood circulation and saturate the retinal visual rods with oxygen.

Massage

Using two fingers, massage the points of the outer corners of the eyes for 10-20 seconds. Use your index and middle fingers to massage closed eyes with circular movements: at the bottom edge – movement towards the nose, along the nose boards – towards the corners of the eyes under the eyebrows. In the morning and evening wash with a contrast shower – alternate between hot and cold water.

In addition to exercise, it is important to remember about proper nutrition. For the prevention of the pathology of vision, it is necessary to consume fish, it contains valuable omega-3 fatty acids, and cottage cheese will cover the lack of vitamins B needed for good metabolism in the cornea and lens. Of course, vegetables, fruits and berries – a storehouse of vitamins and minerals. Among this group should be given special attention to pumpkin, blueberry and broccoli.
